Julie and I have joined forces to bring you an innovative new recipe challenge with a delightful twist – your culinary creation must prominently feature a specific alcoholic beverage that changes every two months. We’re calling it the Spiked! Recipe Challenge, and each edition will shine a spotlight on a new boozy ingredient, pushing your creativity to new heights.
To launch this exciting series, we couldn’t think of a more fitting or festive ingredient than Champagne! As the quintessential symbol of celebration and new beginnings, Champagne perfectly heralds in the New Year. Its delicate effervescence, bright acidity, and subtle notes of apple, pear, and citrus make it surprisingly versatile in the kitchen. Far beyond a celebratory sip, Champagne can add a sophisticated sparkle to both sweet and savory dishes.

2. Register Your Interest Early
To officially sign up for the challenge, please add a link to your blog’s homepage in the linky provided at the very end of this post. It is crucial to include your email address when you add your link, as this is our primary method for sending you important updates and timely reminders throughout the contest. Don’t miss out on vital information!
3. Display the Spiked! Button
For your recipe post to be officially considered as an entry, you must include the Spiked! Challenge button within the post itself. This helps us identify valid entries and spreads the word about our exciting challenge. While not a requirement for winning, we would be absolutely thrilled if you also displayed the button prominently on your blog’s sidebar – it’s a fantastic way to support the challenge and inspire others!
4. Originality is Key
The recipe you submit MUST BE YOUR OWN ORIGINAL CREATION. We encourage you to draw inspiration from other recipes (and please, always include a link back to any original source within your post), but your submission must demonstrate a unique twist or adaptation that makes the recipe distinctly yours. Show us your culinary voice!
5. It’s All About Food, Not Drinks
The core of the Spiked! Challenge is about cooking and baking. Therefore, while Champagne is our featured ingredient this month, your recipe can be anything BUT a drink recipe. We’re looking for innovative ways you integrate Champagne into a dish – a main course, a side dish, an appetizer, or a dessert. Get creative with how you cook or bake with our “spiked” ingredient!
6. Timely Submission is Crucial
To be considered for judging, you must link up your Champagne recipe post when the official linky goes live on January 15, 2013. Please note that the linky will remain open for a very limited time – just two days! No entries will be accepted past this strict deadline, so plan accordingly to ensure your masterpiece is submitted on time.
Judging and Rewards: What’s at Stake for the Spiked! Champion?
All submitted recipes will be meticulously judged by myself and Julie from This Gal Cooks. We’ll be looking for creativity, innovative use of Champagne, flavor profile, presentation, and overall appeal. The competition is fierce, but the rewards are well worth it!
